Best Motherboard For Ryzen 9 3900x
Now, as far as the options are concerned, you are just looking at the motherboard that you want. The good thing is that you should be prepared for the right option. You might get confused easily, and the purpose of this article is to avoid that from happening. Let’s have a look.
#1- Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX Motherboard
The first motherboard on the list is from Asus, and specifically from their Strix lineup, which means that you are getting a pretty good deal for the price you are paying. The Strix lineup has always been the sweet spot for those who want to enjoy a good performance, but at the same time, they don’t want to pay a lot of money.
Support for 2nd and 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs. Asus Aura Sync RGB. Active PCH heatsink and MOS heatsink for efficient cooling. PCI-E 4.0 support for high bandwidth workloads. 2.5Gbps LAN.
A lot of USB 3 Gen2 ports. Great for overclocking. 2.5GbE plus Gigabit Ethernet is great to have, plus Wi-Fi 6 is also a treat. An affordable option over the others.
Efficiency could have been improved.
For starters, the option that I am talking about is the Asus ROG Strix X570-E, and it is one of the more affordable motherboards available in the market, and that is why people are buying it. For anyone who is looking for a good motherboard, this is it. For starters, you are getting a lot of USB 3 Gen2 ports than some of the other options available in the market. The motherboard is also of excellent quality when you are talking about overclocking, and the 2.5GbE plus Gigabit Ethernet is great for connectivity, and the motherboard also has Wi-Fi 6 support. At the same time, the motherboard brings a great value of money, so if you are looking to get this motherboard over the competition, you will be able to save some money. The downside here is that the motherboard is only coming with dual M.2 slots, and more importantly, the efficiency is slightly below average, but nothing that will break the deal.
#2- GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Xtreme
Gigabyte has been doing some pretty amazing things as far as their motherboards and other high-end components are concerned. I have been using their offerings for some time now, and I can tell you that if you want performance, you are going to get it. If you are looking for a motherboard that manages to give a decent performance and does not cost a lot of money, then the Strix X570-E is a great option that you could be going for. It does not cost a lot of money, and it actually gives an outstanding performance, too.
Support for 2nd and 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs. Dual-channel ECC and non-ECC DDR4 memory. Direct 16 phases of VRM solution. Thermal Reactive Armor. Intel Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax.
The VRM is best in class. 10G LAN and networking. There is no chipset fan. The motherboard looks terrific.
Nothing that I was able to find.
With that said, the GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Xtreme is the one I am talking about today, and it is quite simply one of the finest options that you can buy. Granted, it is one of the highest-end offerings, but at least you are getting a motherboard that leaves no stone unturned in terms of the overall performance. The Aorus Xtreme offers best in class VRM, which means that dialing in stable overclocks is an absolute breeze. Additionally, you are getting 10 Gigabit LAN and networking to ensure that you are never left behind as far as your internet usage is concerned. Thankfully, Gigabyte has opted for a much better passive cooling, which means that there is no pesky chipset fan that is going to come in the way. As far as any issues are concerned, I am hard-pressed to find any, that is how good this motherboard is. Gigabyte has hit it out of the park with their Aorus Xtreme.
#3- Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula
There is no overlooking the fact that we have seen some impressive hardware from Asus over the past couple of years. Whether you are talking about their graphic cards, their motherboards, or even their power supplies, or monitors, Asus has always been the top player in the industry. If you are looking for a no-compromises motherboard, then the GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Xtreme is something that you should look into. It is something that is going to help you with outstanding performance, and you will not have to worry about anything that could give you a problem. For those who are looking for performance, this motherboard is something that will deliver the best possible performance, and at the same time, it is going to look incredible while doing so. Which is what most of us are always going to look for in a good component.
Support for Ryzen 2000, 3000, and 5000 processors. Great thermal design for proper cooling. Wi-Fi 6 for high-performance networking. 5-way optimization with Fan Xpert and other Asus exclusive features. BIOS flashback.
Top-notch performance. Great looks. Very user friendly in installation. Stable through every test.
Nothing special.
The Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is the testament to what Asus can do as far as their imagination allows them, creating a no-nonsense, no-compromise motherboard that honestly seems a bit absurd as well. Now, right off the bat, I can tell you that this motherboard is made for enthusiasts, you can see that by the fact that there is a water cooling block on the VRM that is implemented by EKWB. However, that does not mean that you can only use this motherboard if you want to water cool everything. Still, if you are looking for performance, looks, and rock-solid stability, I doubt you can do better than this motherboard. It has loads of connectivity, including the latest PCI-E 4.0 for the higher bandwidth storage, and everything else that you would want in-between. The performance is great throughout. The Asus exclusive features make this motherboard an absolute treat to use, and you really will not find yourself in a situation disliking this motherboard. Honestly, I cannot find any faults in this motherboard, mainly how good it is. The price, yes, that is one thing to keep in mind that, but that should not come in the way of how good everything else is.
#4- Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite
It is not often that everyone is looking to get the highest-end motherboard possible. Simply put, some people are looking for affordable options too, and there is nothing wrong with that as I have a list that has some more affordable options too. So if you are in the market for that, I have got you covered. The Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is not something that you can just buy without thinking. You need to put some thought into this motherboard, but once you do get it, it is worth every single penny, and it will deliver the best possible performance you can opt for. The motherboard is not going to disappoint as far as the performance is concerned.
Supports 3rd and 2nd generation of Ryzen CPUs. Dual-channel ECC/Non-ECC unbuffered RAM. 12-phase digital VRM design. Extended VRM heatsink for added cooling.
One of the more affordable options in the market. The integrated I/O plate is also great to have. You are getting heatsink on the primary M.2 slot. Great performance for the price.
You are not getting any USB Type-C at the back or the front. No, debug LEDs either.
The Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite is just that, an affordable option that delivers pretty good performance for the price you are paying. You truly will not have any issues as far as the price of this motherboard is concerned, and the relevant performance it manages to deliver. With that said, the low price is the star of the show here, and not just that, for a lower price, Gigabyte has given you an integrated I/O shield, as well as a heatsink on the primary M.2 slot. While the rest of the looks are also pretty good, so you are not losing money here on anything. As far as the actual stability and performance are concerned, even those are great for the standard you are paying, and there are not any deal-breaking issues going on here. Sadly, Gigabyte had to cut some corners for the price to stay down as the motherboard does not have any debug LEDs or Type-C port on the rear I/O, but everything is there if you are looking for it.
#5- MSI MEG X570 ACE Motherboard
If you are looking for a good motherboard from MSI, you will not be disappointed because regardless of your budget, they have been giving us some great options without breaking the bank. However, if you want to spend more money, you can easily do that, too, and get something great. In simpler words, the Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite is the motherboard that you should be getting if you are on a budget and you are looking for a good option because it gives you the performance that you want without costing a lot of money.
Support for 2nd and 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs. 2.5G onboard LAN and Wi-Fi 6 support. Triple Lighting Gen 4 M.2 slots. Audio Boost HD technology with ESS DAC and amplifier.
The 2.5GbE plus Gigabit Ethernet is great. You are getting a lot of bandwidth available to run all the M.2 slots and PCI-E slots together. Great DRAM overclocking features. PCH heat pipe for better thermals.
Only a single PCI-E x1 slot can be used at a time. The USB 3 Gen 2 front-panel header is awkwardly placed.
That is why I have the MSI MEG X570 ACE Motherboard for review and not something else that is on the affordable side, but I can tell you that if you are looking for something great, this motherboard will not disappoint you in any way. For those who want to have great networking, you are getting access to 2.5GbE plus Gigabit Ethernet with Wi-Fi 6. Another great thing is that the motherboard runs all three PCI-E and M.2 slots at the same time, and the DRAM overclocking on this motherboard is great, as well. The PCH heat pipe does a great job at allowing for better thermals overall, so you do not have to worry about getting something that is not going to deliver on that front. Sadly, at the time of writing, only a single PCI-E x1 slot can be used, and the USB 3 Gen2 front-panel header is on the bottom edge, which is a bit difficult to connect properly.
#6- ASRock AM4/X570M Pro4 – (Best Micro ATX)
It should not come as a surprise, but when we are talking about good motherboards, ASRock is one of the names that always comes up. They have been delivering some fantastic value for money for some time now, and if you are willing to spend money on a good motherboard, ASRock is the way to go. If you are searching for a good motherboard from MSI, then going with the MSI MEG X570 ACE Motherboard is not going to disappoint you at all. During my time with this motherboard, I have come to realize that it is one of the better performing options available, and you will get pretty good performance if you are looking for it.
Support for 2nd and 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs. 10-power phase design on the VRMs. 7.1-channel audio codec. Dual M.2 slots.
The performance is great for the price. Plenty of SATA ports on the back. Dual M.2 with PCI-E Gen 4 support. One of the more affordable X570 options. Good power consumption under idle and load.
The I/O shield is not integrated.
With that said, the ASRock AM4/X570M Pro4 is the one on the table, and this one is an offering in micro ATX, considering how popular this form factor has become over the past couple of years, you should be certain that you are looking at this as a potential purchase. With that said, if you are searching for a motherboard that has a decent performance, this one is going to do the job. It can even run with some moderate overclocks, so you definitely have that feature available, and you are also getting access to eight SATA ports and two M.2 slots that have PCI-E Gen 4 support. Additionally, the price is also a big factor that makes this motherboard a great option as you are not paying a lot of money, and the black and white aesthetics do look wonderful. My only issue here is that the I/O shield on the backplate is not integrated, which does not break the deal but would have made the user experience a bit easier.
#7- GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro – (Best Mini ITX)
The last motherboard on the list is going to be from Gigabyte once again, but this time around, I am taking a different approach, wherein, I am looking at a mini ITX motherboard. There is nothing new about these motherboards aside from the fact that they have become a lot more common these days. I would say that the ASRock AM4/X570M Pro4 is a pretty great offering for what you are paying. The motherboard delivers a well-balanced performance in an overall package that is not going to cost you a lot of money and still be good for every single task that you can think of.
Support for Ryzen 2nd and 3rd generation CPUs. Dual-channel ECC/non-ECC unbuffered RAM. 8-phase digital VRM. Dual M.2 slots with PCI-E Gen 4 support.
Great set of features for the low price. USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C Port. Dual M.2 slots. Q-Flash for easier BIOS updating.
Only two fan headers
Which is great because for anyone who is looking to build a small powerhouse, these motherboards are excellent for that, and they do deliver excellent performance in every single way. If it is the performance you want, you are going to get it with this motherboard. The GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro is a great option because it is one of the more affordable mini ITX motherboards that has a great feature set, and you are also getting a USB Type-C Gen2 port on the back, and you are getting two M.2 slots on this small motherboard. Additionally, the Q-Flash Plus for easy BIOS updates is great to have. Honestly, the only issue I have with this motherboard is that there are only two fan headers, which might not be enough for a lot of people, but that is what you are getting with this.
Things To Consider Before Buying! Best Motherboard For Ryzen 9 3900x
Now that we have looked at all the best motherboards that you can choose, the next step is to start looking at a buying guide that should help you make the right purchase. I often realize that people miss out on this, and that is not what I would suggest anyone do. Form Factor, PCI Express Slots & RAM Slots
It is very easy to avoid some of the most basic things when going to get a new motherboard. I say this because I have seen this happening a lot of the times, and it is never an optimal thing that you should be doing. If you wish to get a good motherboard, you have to make the right decision, as I believe that to be an important thing. As for the form factor, you have to be sure whether you are going for a full-sized motherboard (ATX) or micro ATX, or mini ITX. This all depends on you because you are the one who is going to build the PC. But be sure that you are choosing the right size so you are not left out. The 3900X runs on motherboards that either come with two or four RAM slots, so, whenever you are buying one, you have to be sure that you are getting the RAM slots that you desire rather than sticking with something that is not up to your requirements. You should also have at least 2 PCI-E slots unless you are going with a mini ITX option which is usually limited to a single slot, you have no excuse to limit yourself.
Chipset
Whenever you are in the market looking for a new motherboard, you are going to be given a lot to choose from as far as motherboards are concerned. In such situations, you might get confused. Just know that when you are talking about a chipset, you need to get a motherboard that supports the AM4 chipset. Because that is the one that Ryzen 9 3900X supports, and getting anything other than that can cause some severe compatibility issues, or you might not be able to run the CPU at all. Thankfully, all the motherboards that I have listed here support AM4, so you are not left with any other option. But should you choose something that is not on this list, just be sure that it has to be AM4 supported.
Memory Overclocking Support
The great thing about the Ryzen platform, in general, is that it runs better when it is paired with faster memory. Which means that the faster the RAM, the better the overall performance is going to be. Whenever you are buying a motherboard, make sure it supports faster memory. Additionally, you have to be sure that the RAM you have is also fully compatible, so you do not end up buying something that simply is not good enough for your motherboard.
Other Features
Last but not the least, one thing that I would always suggest to anyone who is in the market for a good motherboard and that is that you should look for additional features, too. Just because if you are spending good money on a motherboard, you should at least have a good list of options available. Now the good news is that you are getting features such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, RGB support, and more. However, not every motherboard manufacturer is going to give you these features. Which means that you will have to look for the one that you want to go with. Thankfully, finding the right motherboard is not going to be a difficult process. You can easily buy the right one with ease. That is also the reason that I have added motherboards from several price brackets, so people do not end up getting confused as to what they want to get and what they want to avoid. This is only going to make things easier for everyone. Just be sure that you are making the right decision as to what motherboard you are going to get. With so much to choose from, getting confused is a very simple and straightforward process, and the more careful you are, the better, in general, it is going to be overall.
