Which might make it a bit difficult for some. However, I have everything you would need to make the right purchase.

#1- Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus

We are starting strong with Asus and one of their TUF series motherboards, to be precise. Asus TUF is something that I always liked simply because it is durable, and made with great care. That is not to say that the cheaper price tag warrants the fact that it is going to be full of cut corners.

Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. Military-grade components for added stability. Comprehensive cooling with Active PCH heatsink. Dual PCI-E M.2 Gen4 slots. Realtek L8200A Gigabit Ethernet and Intel 2×2 Wi-Fi.

One of the most affordable motherboards for the Ryzen 5000 series. Great, stealthy looks. Debug LEDs for easier diagnostics. USB 3.1 Gen2 port on the back.

No USB 3.1 Gen2 front panel connector.

The Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus is a fantastic motherboard for the price you will be paying, and it is made even better with the fact that it is going to support the Ryzen 5000 series. So, for the price that you are paying for this motherboard, I would say that you are getting a pretty great deal. Now, as I have mentioned before, the biggest selling point here for this motherboard is the price. It is one of the most affordable X570 motherboards available to buy. However, don’t just go by that because there are more. On the back, you are getting a USB 3.1 Gen2 port, the motherboard supports WiFi, and you are getting the welcomed debug LEDs as well. Sadly, the only gripe here is that there is no front-panel USB 3.1 Gen2 connector, but considering how cheap this motherboard is, we cannot hold it against it now, can we?

#2- Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula

Asus ROG motherboards are, without a doubt, some of the fanciest and highest-end options available for you to buy, but that does not mean that they are built for everyone who is looking to get a new computer. Some of the features on these motherboards make zero sense to an average consumer, as well. In conclusion, I am surprised not a lot of people are giving thought to the Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus as it is the motherboard of choice for me. Not because I like Asus motherboards, but if I have to be on a budget and still get phenomenal performance great stability, this is what I would pick. The motherboard is powerful, has great specs, runs really well even when overclocked, and looks great while doing so. Of course, it is backed by the legendary Asus support that we have come to love. Which is safe to say that you will not be disappointed at all, and your overall experience will be excellent.

Support for 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen processors. Active PCH cooling, and EK III water-cooling on the VRM. WiFi 6 support with 5G, and MU-MIMO included. 5-way optimization. Asus Aura Sync RGB lighting.

Stellar performance across the board. Super-easy to overclock. Great looks. Asus Aura Sync RGB lighting. Great set of features.

None.

The Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is just that, a testament to what Asus is capable of doing as far as good motherboards are concerned and good components, in general, are concerned. So, if it is the performance you want, that is exactly what you are going to get. The good thing about this motherboard is that it is loaded with more features than you can count. Now, this might be a problem for someone who just wants to build a PC, but if you are looking to push the limits of every single aspect, this is the motherboard that you should be going with. Everything ranging from the gorgeous looks to solid overall performance, the Formula is Asus’ highest-end offering available for the Ryzen platform, and you cannot go wrong with it. True, it does have a lot of features that are not made for the average user, but then again, Asus never intended it to be for those. As far as the downsides are concerned, it is really hard to find any faults in the motherboard, thanks to how good it performs in every single aspect, making it one of the finest choices available.

#3- MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS

MSI has been churching out some of the finest motherboards for some time now, and if you are looking for something that delivers great motherboard that delivers everything but does not cost a lot of money, you can always turn to MSI, and they will give you a great list of performance advantages. For anyone who is searching for a no-compromises motherboard, the Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is the one that you should be eyeing, In my testing, I have come to realize that this is one of the most powerful motherboards available. Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. DDR4 memory supports up to 4,400 MHz in OC. Audio Boost 4 technology. Frozr heatsink with patented fan design. Grounded I/O shield.

The VRM is pretty good, stable overclocks. Good overclocking features for almost every single processor. Audio Boost feature works well. Actively cooled PCH.

Not a lot of advanced features.

The motherboard I have on my list is the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, and it delivers fantastic performance on every single ground, and if you want to buy something affordable but still has great performance, this is a great option that you should be looking at. Starting with the more important things, if you are planning on pairing your Ryzen 5000 CPU with it, and you want to overclock it, the VRMs on this motherboard are great to a point that you will not be running into any issues with the stability, which is what we want to go with. Despite being a mid-range motherboard, it offers stellar support for auto and manual overclocking, which honestly is something that I did not expect, but then again, MSI has a habit of surprising us, to say the least. As for the downsides, I honestly cannot think of any. I would let you know that if you are getting this motherboard thinking that you are going to get all the highest-end features, then that is not the case, but aside from that, everything else is perfect.

#4- Gigabyte X570 Gaming X

Gigabyte is known for delivering some great offerings over the past couple of years, and they are still doing it. Whether you are getting a gaming motherboard or their graphics card, you are going to get stellar performance through and through. If you are looking for something that is on the budget side of things and still delivers good performance, then going for the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS is the right way. Great looks with black and grey aesthetics. The 12-phase VRM design is great for overclocking. Super-fast M.2 slots. Integrated I/O shield. Great onboard audio.

Lack of advanced features.

The motherboard in question today is the Gigabyte X570 Gaming X, and it is certainly one of the better options available in the market that you can get your hands on as it delivers excellent performance through and through. Granted, it is on the more affordable side of things, but that does not mean it is not good enough. The motherboard brings a well-made design with stellar components and VRM design, which is a welcomed changed at this price point. While you are not getting the best VRM power phase, but what Gigabyte is offering here is more than adequate and delivers stellar performance across the board. The colors are also on the muted side, which means that the motherboard would feel right at home regardless of the design that you may have in your mind for your entire PC, and you get support for all the latest Ryzen processors, making it a great overall choice, which is what we love here. As for the downsides, my only complaint is consistent across all the mid-range motherboards that they lack advanced features but nothing that is going to break the deal for anyone.

#5- MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE

We are finally looking at one of the top-tier offerings from MSI. Just as Asus, MSI has a highest-end offering called the Godlike series, and yes, you heard it right, this is one of the most out of the world motherboard options that you are going to be buying. If you are looking for something that delivers good performance and an excellent sense of aesthetics as far as the color scheme is concerned, going for the X570 Gaming X makes the most sense as it delivers great performance across the board, and you will not have any issues whatsoever as far as the overall experience is concerned. It is a simple and straightforward implementation that delivers great overall performance. I cannot seem to find any faults that I would hold against this motherboard for the price you are paying for it.

Support 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. Ultra-fast networking with WiFi 6 support and 10G LAN card. Triple Gen4 M.2 slots with an add-on storage card for additional M.2 drives. Xtreme Audio DAC with dual audio processors.

The customizable LED panel is great. One of the best RGB implementations I have seen. You can overclock using a knob on this motherboard. Offers a high-end networking card. Add-on storage and NIC cards.

Not made for your average user.

The motherboard in question is the MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE, and the first look at this motherboard and you feel like you are looking at something that should not exist. This is not an ordinary motherboard by any mean, and I like it that way, and of course, not everyone is going to buy this, to begin with. But this motherboard is truly fit for the Ryzen 9 5900X, and if you want performance, you got it. The motherboard as a customizable LED panel, which is very good when it comes to customization, and you are also getting a gorgeous implementation of RGB lighting, so if that is on your list, you are getting it here. The motherboard even has an overclocking knob that allows you to fine-tune the adjustments that you would want to make to your overall system, which is a pretty great feature if you ask me. MSI is firing on all fours since this motherboard brings pretty great networking support, too and you are also getting added storage and NIC cards in the box. Honestly, if you start thinking about something to complain about this motherboard, you will only come to realize that the one thing that is wrong with this motherboard is that it is not built for an average user, and that is about it.

#6- ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS

We are finally moving to the affordable territory and bringing you another great motherboard for the price. Don’t worry, just because we are looking at motherboards from the budget category does not mean that they are not good enough, The Asus TUF series has always been great for a lot of reasons. If you want something that complements the highest end of the Ryzen 5000 processors, the MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE is the one motherboard to rule them all because it delivers fantastic performance across the board without any issues that might come in the way of the performance.

Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation of Ryzen processors. 8+2 phase power design. HDMI 2.1 support. 2.5 Gigabit LAN with Asus LAN Guard. Thunderbolt 3 header.

The motherboard runs with great stability across the board. Neutral looks. Good implementation of ports and selection of ports. Does not cost a lot of money.

Does not have all the advanced connectivity options.

The ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS is just one of the many entries that have been making a name for themselves, and while you might think that this motherboard is not good enough, you are getting a lot of features packed into a small motherboard, and that is what we love about this. The B550-Plus comes with stable overclocking features which manage to set it apart from the pack. Not just that, even if you are not planning on running your processor in overclocking, you are still getting a good set of features that is respectable, to say the least. The performance here is great. The overall look and feel of the motherboard are also good, especially when you consider just how low you are paying for this motherboard. There are hardly any issues with the motherboard, and you will do just fine as far as the overall experience is concerned. My only issue here would be the fact that as far as the additional features are concerned, the ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS is not the one that is going to lead the pack, but given the price, it is forgiven.

#7- GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro Wi-Fi (Mini-ITX)

Now and then, we want to go with something different and when I say different, simply mean a motherboard with a different form-factor or a different set of features, which is fine. With Gigabyte, you have no shortage of great options available, as they are known for delivering a great list of options. With the Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus, the company has gone ahead with one of the most competitive pricing, the motherboard delivers on all fronts without costing a lot of money, and I strongly believe that a lot of people who are searching for such a motherboard are going to love this. It is affordable, delivers a stellar performance, and looks great while doing so. I cannot complain about it.

Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. Direct 8-phase digital VRM solution with 70A power stage. Extended VRM heatsink for added cooling. Dual NVMe PCI-E 4.0 M.2 slots.

Low price for a great set of features. USB 3.1 Gen2 port on the back. Dual M.2 slots. Great VRM design for stable overclocking.

You are only getting two fan headers.

Now the motherboard we are looking at is the GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro WiFi, and trust me when I tell you that if you are looking for something that has good performance, this one is going to deliver it on all fronts, to a point that you will not have any issues whatsoever as far as the performance is concerned. You are getting a great motherboard for a low price, which means that the overall performance is brilliant across the board, and not just that, there are ample connectivity options available too. For instance, you are getting a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port on the rear I/O. The on-board WiFi is also one of the best things that I have had the chance to experience as it is stable and runs well. Which means that if you are worried about the performance, you might not have any issues that might come in the way. You are also getting dual M.2 slots, and both of them are Gen4, so you are going to get a lot of performance boost. My only issue here is that you are only getting two fan headers, so you might need to invest in an extra fan controller.

#8- ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming

I have observed this general observation that the more affordable motherboards are not as good when you are talking about getting good performance, however, that is not the case as you can see from the list since I have included and continue to include these offerings. Honestly, I was surprised to see just how small this motherboard is when I first looked at. I have never used the mini ITX form factor, so it came as a surprise to me, but after using it for a while, I realized I’ve been missing a lot. You get great performance from the GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro WiFi, and it does not cost you a lot of money, either. If you are looking for something stellar across the board, getting this motherboard makes a lot of sense. Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen processors.12+2 phase power design.Fan-less VRM design for added protection.High-performance gaming networking, onboard WiFi 6.SupremeFX S1220A codec.

The motherboard brings an excellent set of features to boot. The overclocking is excellent. Great aesthetics overall.

The power phase design is not something that is built to overclock to extremes.

The motherboard at hand right now is the revered ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming that is making the rounds for a lot of reasons. Aside from generally being a great motherboard, it delivers great value for money, as well. Which is what most people are going to look for in this option. Now, right out of the box, I can tell you that if you are looking for something that is going to deliver good performance round the clock, this is going to be a great option as it brings are well rounded set of features, and the overclocking potential of this motherboard is something that you should consider seriously. If you are someone who is looking for good aesthetics, you certainly are going to get that with this motherboard, as there are not going to be any problems as far as the looks are concerned, so that is an important thing that you should know about. With that said, there is no downside to this motherboard aside from the power phase design, which is not good enough for overclocking to extreme limits, but that is about it.

#9- ASUS Prime B550M-A WiFi (Micro-ATX)

If you want something that is truly affordable without costing a lot of money, the good news is that Asus has gotten you covered, in almost every single way. Their Prime series of motherboards is always something that gets the job done, and that is not what you can ever overlook. For anyone who is looking for something good, I can already tell you that the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming is definitely the motherboard of choice for a lot of people, and simply put, they deliver great performance through and through, and you will not have any problems. Despite being a B550 chipset, it has an excellent performance in every case, and you will not be let down either. So, you can be at peace, knowing that.

Supports HDMI 2.1. PCI-E 4.0. 1GB LAN and WiFi 6 support. Addressable RGB header. Support for 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen processors.

Has decent looks for a minimal build. Comes equipped with WiFi 6. There are 3 video outputs on the motherboard with HDMI 2.1 as well.

Is not built for overclocking at all. You are only getting 4 SATA ports.

With that said, the ASUS Prime B550M-A WiFi is something that should trigger your fancy if you are in the market for an affordable offering. The motherboard does not sell itself as something that is going to break the speed records, but for the price, you are going to be able to run the Ryzen 9 5900X with ease. With that out of the way, you are getting access to Intel WiFi 6 AX200, there are 3 video outputs onboard, so you know that you are covered in case you are still waiting for a new GPU to arrive. Additionally, you are getting access to decent overall looks for anyone who wants to get their hands on something that looks neutral. Sadly, there are few downsides here. For starters, the VRM can get hot when you are pairing it with a higher-end processor and overclocking that processor. Additionally, there happens to be a lack of USB Type-C port on the front or the rear, and you are only getting access to 4 SATA ports.

#10- ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming (Mini-ITX)

We are finally done looking at all the great motherboards that are available in the market, and the next one that we are looking at is just as good. This time, I am shedding light on a mini ITX offering since I believe that it is one of the things that a lot of people are going to worry about, and I have to consider that, of course. If you are searching for something affordable and still manages to deliver good performance, then getting access to the Prime B550 is something that you should be looking for. It is affordable, it looks good, and it manages to deliver a good performance. All these things are definitely what most of us are going to want from a good motherboard. Also, it is micro-ATX, so if you have a building plan that is not going to take a lot of space in general, then going for this motherboard is something that should be on your list.

Supports 2nd, 3rd, and 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. 8+2 DrMOS power stages. On-board WiFi 6. Stack Cool 3+ for VRM and PCH heatsinks. HDMI 2.1 for 4K up to 120Hz.

The components are of great quality. The performance remains consistent across the board. The power phase design is adequate. WiFi 6 and fast Intel LAN. The PCB design is neutral and looks good.

Lack of RGB might not please everyone.

The motherboard in question is the ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming, and while look like this little boy is not going to be able to pack a lot of punch but you would be wrong thanks to the performance it delivers on all fronts. What’s good about this motherboard? A lot, to be honest. Let’s have a look. For starters, Asus has made sure that this motherboard delivers higher quality components, so you are not going to get anything that is not good enough. The overall performance of this motherboard with higher-end CPUs is also a great thing, and you are getting top of the line LAN and WiFi performance alongside with it, so you have something good going on. Moreover, the overall PCB and motherboard design is pretty good for the price you are paying. It is not something that is going to make you want something else, that is for you. While I couldn’t find any proper faults in this motherboard, the one thing that I will mention here is that some people might not like the lack of RGB that is going to be on this motherboard.

Things You Need To Know Before Buying The Best Motherboard For Ryzen 9 5900X

Don’t get me wrong, this is one of the best motherboards available in the market, but if you are looking for something that is going to deliver a great overall performance, this is something that you should be paying attention to as it delivers excellent performance. Number of RAM Slots

When buying a new motherboard, you will need to consider several things because they are going to be important. RAM slots are among the most important one because without that, you might not have proper understanding. Thankfully, you are getting anywhere from 2 to 4 RAM slots for the motherboards that are built for the Ryzen 5000 series. Or any other available mainstream processors. Still, be sure as to how many RAM slots are you going to need.

Overall VRM Quality

I have seen a lot of people not caring about the VRM quality, and in reality, it would make sense. But you will realize that having good VRM is very important. Especially if your processor demands the power from the motherboard. Just be sure that the motherboard you are getting has good power phase design, and they don’t heat up under load. When you are done with that, you will be able to make the right decision.

What About The Form Factor

When choosing a motherboard, I have learned that the form factor plays a huge role in the whole process. I did not know this until I got my hands on the motherboard, and it was too small for the case I had. Although it managed to fit without any issues, it just looked out of place. So, it is safe to say that when you are talking about the form factor, be sure that you are getting the motherboard that has the right form factor. ATX would be the standard that you should be aiming for.

Support For Processor And The Chipset

Next up, whenever you are buying a new motherboard, you will get access to so many different motherboards that you can get confused. It is important to get something that brings the right chipset because, at the end of the day, that is going to be one of the more important things. Thankfully, finding it is not going to be difficult. For Ryzen 5000 series, you need at least a B550 or X570 chipset, and you will do just fine. These chipsets run on the AM4 socket, and nothing else in the market supports these.

The Design Choice

I still remember the day when these things did not matter, however, that is no longer the case as the motherboards available in the market right now are available in some gorgeous designs. So, it is only safe to say that you are getting the right design for your motherboard, as it is going to be a very important factor. The RGB lighting is something that is almost immediately available in every single motherboard in varying degrees. That leaves you with the design, and that is going to be your personal choice, therefore, it is best if you make the right decision.

Latest Connectivity Options

I never really realized that I am going to need good connectivity options in a motherboard until I realized that I am running out of USB ports. Safe to say, if you are looking for a good motherboard, be sure that you have access to the latest connectivity options, so you are good to go. I understand that things are not going to be easy here since buying a motherboard with a lot of ports can be an expensive affair, but you will have to consider this just to be on the safer side. As long as you are getting the latest port selection, I doubt anything is going to be displaced here.

PCI-E Slots

Moving on, whenever you are buying a motherboard, be sure that you are aware of the PCI-E slots on those motherboards alongside the bandwidth on those. Meaning that you will have to be careful as to how much bandwidth you are going to push since that will be a very important thing that you have to understand. Otherwise, you are going to be left without any proper options here.

How Many M.2 Slots

One more thing that you should be careful about whenever you are buying a new motherboard is the number of M.2 slots, and the bandwidth they run at. I realized it a bit too late, but you should not be making the same mistakes. At least two M.2 slots are necessary, but some of the motherboards I have listed here go as high as 4. Of course, the more slots you have, the more storage you can add. Provided M.2 storage is not as cheap, especially the faster ones, but they are slowly becoming more and more accessible. This means that at this point, it is safe to be future proof rather than saving money.

The Support For Overclocking

The greatest thing about the Ryzen series processors is that they can be overclocked on B550 chipsets as well. Which means that you are not going to need the top of the end X570 offers. But at the same time, it is important to know that not all motherboards are made equally, which means that there are situations in which you might end up getting access to average VRM cooling, which is what we have to avoid. Because without good VRMs, you can’t get good overclocking support.

Extra Features (What Else You Need?)

Now that you are done looking at the buying guide, the last bit that I am going to walk you through is looking for good additional features that people often overlook. I am not saying that you are going to get a terrible motherboard if you skip these feature, but since you are already paying a good amount, why not get the right option. The good news is that finding the extra features is not going to be difficult. For starters, one of the features that I have seen become prevalent is WiFi 6, as I believe it is one of the most important features that you can look for. Additionally, you will need to look for USB 3.1 Gen2 port on the back, or the front, or both. Last but not the least, addressable RGB headers are important too, if you wish to add more lighting in your system. Thankfully, AMD was kind enough to not change the socket type, which means that the 5th generation of the Ryzen process is still going to run on the AM4 socket. However, the support is only for the B550 and X570 motherboards, and you are still going to need a BIOS update. Thankfully, this list is going to have all the good motherboards that are made for the Ryzen 5000 series. Which means that you are not going to run into any compatibility issues. You will easily be able to run the processor of your choice and that too, without any issues. Again, just be sure that the BIOS is updated to the latest, and you would do just fine.
