NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 vs. RTX 2080 TI – Specifications
If we compare both graphic cards specifications, you can see Nvidia RTX 3080 is using the 2nd generation Ray-Tracing settings with the new 3rd generation tensor cores. At the same time, the RTX 2080 Ti is based on the first-generation Ray-Tracing settings. Both GPUs can provide you the best quality 4K gaming experience at fair FPS (I will share more on this below). The one thing that is going to blow you is the amount of video ram RTX 3080 is built-on as compared to 2080 Ti. An all-new 10 GB GDDR6X is a really massive difference between the two GPUs because the RTX 2080 Ti is featuring an old gen GDDR6 memory of 10GB only. Both aims to provide you the “Maximum Resolution of 7680×4320” without graphics shuttering. RTX 3080 is more powerful in almost all departments. Still, the reason why I’m heading up this comparison for you guys is the benchmarks for various top triple-AAA title games at different resolutions with various max settings. You can see Nvidia’s new Ampere GPU is overtaking the Turing architecture by a massive number. Just for your information, the new RTX 3080 is made on modern Ampere architecture, while the recent gen RTX 2080 ti is built on the Turing series. Lastly, we are going to have some discussion about the CUDA cores. Nvidia’s RTX 3080 GPU series is a real monster with 8704 CUDA cores, while the 2080 ti can give a decent amount of 4352 CUDA cores. If you check the ports section new 3080 series is again ahead with a new HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a ports, beating the previous all types of ports; few of them are DisplayPort, HDMI, USB, and Type-C. I think this is enough for the specs section; now, let’s compare the overall performance and analyze different games and resolutions with authentic benchmarks to give you an idea about how these cards are slaying each-other in various settings. Winner: Nvidia RTX 3080
Nvidia RTX 3080 vs. RTX 2080 Ti: Performance & Benchmarks!
The most requested section of this article, and believe me; the game is going to start here when the versus is going to become serious when we compare the different benchmarks for both GPUs. A few days ago, some benchmarks data for the RTX 3080 was leaked by a “Chinese TecLab.” And after a couple of minutes, that whole authentic data got vanished from the web. According to those data leaks, but let me clear you one thing first before sharing; this is going to blow your mind and will be a game-changer for sure. As of now, I’m writing this article; there are a lot of sources where things are settling still so, I gathered each and every piece of factual data from these sources and mixed it with my analysis. Let’s continue, according to those leaks, the new RTX 3080 series is dominating with more substantial benchmarks on an average against almost every RTX-20 series. The Nvidia RTX 3080 is 24% more faster against the 2080 Ti so far. If you see performance to performance for 1080p gaming, 1440p, and 2160p gaming, the RTX 3080 is beating in almost every quality benchmarks. I will attach an in-depth analysis of those below so you can exactly see what’s happening. A unique thing that we should notice in the games I’m going to break for further analysis is that these were not supported for Ray-Tracing and DLSS 2.0 before in the 2080 ti series. The Quake 2 with Ray-Tracing is giving 95% percent more improvement in the results as compared with the RTX 2080 ti. Then, the second game, “Control” with High RT, DLSS, and max ultra-settings, is achieving 88% improvement with a considerable stable FPS. Even if you just noticed NVIDIA’s remarks in the recent event, you can see they said the RTX 3080 stacks up against the RTX 2080 Ti in Doom Eternal at the ultra max settings for 4K. They also tweeted that the new RTX 3080 GPU is overtaking the 2080 Ti with 40% to 50% more performance improvements. The Doom Eternal got a boost of 100+ more frames, too; in the recent performance tests, I analyzed by myself. Thanks to the new generation tensor cores and DLSS 2.0 for more improved graphics and boost to FPS. If you ask me, I will surely go with the all-new RTX 3080 if you really want to play your games at a dedicated real 4K gaming experience with max-settings. Even though both cards are giving you the best 4K gaming, but with new generation Ray-tracing, DLSS 2.0, and new-gen tensor cores, 3080 is killing 2080 ti on the right margin. One last thing I forgot to mention is the considerable CUDA cores amount is still a massive game-changer for 4k gaming. Winner: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
Nvidia RTX 3080 vs. RTX 2080 Ti: Budget & Price
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti price started at $999 when it was first launched in the market for sale, and as Nvidia announced, the price for the RTX 3080 graphic cards will begin at $699. Even the prices are low for the RTX 3080 series graphics card; still, most of the hardcore gamers will see the performance boost before buying. For example, if a person is getting decent FPS above 60 for 4k gaming on his/her RTX 2080 Ti, he or she will surely not be going to upgrade. But some gamers will surely be going to buy the new 3080 cards because of the new features and architecture. If you still didn’t purchase any RTX card before, then you must buy this new series from Nvidia for sure without even a blink of an eye. The whole gaming marketplace also dropped the rates for 2080 ti graphics card up to 50% off, so feel free to check my other post regarding the best RTX 2080 ti graphics card. I know all of you are good at what you are doing but still let me remind you about the complications you can face if you bought the wrong card; the first amongst all is the improper low watt power supply. If you are thinking for an upgrade, the minimum and suggested power supply for the new 3080 series GPUs is 750w. Secondly, your motherboard can become a culprit too if it’s not suitable for the next-gen graphic cards and PCI-E bus interface slots. Upgrade your motherboard first if your mobo is not supporting the new GPUs instead of wasting your gold like money. The third one is the processor. Some old/recent generation processors should be upgraded too before buying these graphics cards because if you used an old gen processor with the new 3080 series, it’s going to show you a blank piece of paper. At last, let me explain everything on a small note: Winner: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 So, if you are gaming at 4k gaming and managing to get a decent amount of FPS above 60, then you are outstanding with your 2080 ti cards, but if you are getting low FPS, then trust the words of Nvidia and the data I shared above. For a new high-end gaming pc, you should buy the new 3080 graphics card because of the results and the performance benchmarks it showed so far. Keep one thing in your mind too that the new AAA games are surely going to be based on the new 2nd generation Ray-Tracing settings and all-new features they offered in the latest GPUs series. Lastly, the Xbox Series X games are also going to have a considerable impact, and mostly their games launch on Windows too, so for a new series graphics, it is the best one-time investment for you. Winner: Nvidia RTX 3080
